Job Description
We are looking for a Shiny developer to primarily work with a financial services client, but also support Shiny development across our client base. This position is part of a team and would be responsible for providing technical expertise in project planning, creativity in execution, and communicating progress through regular updates. Experience developing custom JavaScript solutions for Shiny applications is required.
Responsibilities
· Build web applications using Shiny, Javascript, HTML, and CSS
· API development and refactoring
· Collaborate through code reviews, client documentation, and regular meetings
· Refactor existing code to meet updated standards
· Communicate expertise through regular company blog posts, webinars, and conferences
Requirements
The R Shiny Developer will have the following skills, experience, and education. A successful candidate will be prepared to present and discuss examples of their work to the hiring manager.
Skills:
Required:
· Proficiency with the R language with a specific focus on R Shiny
· Proficiency with javascript integration with R Shiny applications
· Experience customizing Shiny applications with CSS and HTML
· Familiar with command line tools and git
· Comfort using and developing workflows with the following R packages: tidyverse, ggplot2, plotly, testthat, parallel, quarto, shiny, renv, tidymodels, microbenchmark
· Experience with unit and integration testing of Shiny applications
· Familiarity with a wide variety of databases and analytic platforms including PostgreSQL, Databricks, Snowflake, or others.
· Experience working in Agile development methedologies
Preferred:
· Experience working with a financial services organization
· Can work in Eastern Time Zone
· Experience in R package development
Experience:
· 2+ years experience Shiny development
· 2+ years experience Javascript experience in Shiny development
· 3+ years experience with R programming
· 3+ years experience with Posit products
Education:
· Bachelors or masters degree in any of the following: statistics, data science, computer science, or other data-intensive field.
