The Enterprise Workflow Team, within Technology Operations - Digital has embarked on the journey to modernize both our development practices and tools/platforms.

The Pega Lead Cloud Engineer will work on the technical implementation of pipeline automation and tools related to running Pega v8+ on a containerized cloud platform. You will oversee the coordination, integration, and flow of development, testing and deployment to support continuous delivery. The incumbent will be focused not only on creating but also on maintaining the end-to-end application delivery tool chain and will participate in the automation aspect of our delivery function by analyzing, designing and implementing continuous deployment enabling technologies, while ensuring high availability of production and pre-production systems.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Provisions and maintains tools that ensure the performance of cloud computing platforms and infrastructures to meet the requirements of complicated IT solutions. Develops software/pipelines for enabling and automating provisioning and maintenance of cloud platform and related components.
  • Ensuring software, programs and applications are developed and/or configured to meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements.  Harden environment on OCP4 (including external Hazelcast planning / implementation – ideally also on OCP4)
  • Designing, implementing, and refactoring code including participating in design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices.
  • Working with other engineers and architects on breaking-down, scoping, and estimating tasks.
  • Provisioning and operating highly available / scalable software and infrastructure:   pipeline automation to build / test / deploy all Pega platform updates in a touchless manor, determine minimum access requirements needed across the stack (kafka, elastic search, etc), and build out a dynamic environment pattern to allow teams to create / destroy environments on demand.
  • Supporting application teams in their use of cloud platform : providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations.
  • Participating in planning, retrospective sessions, attending stand-ups, etc.
  • Our teams are flexible and fast – you will provide peer review and quality control on a daily basis and champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

MUST HAVE:

  • Full understanding of software development life cycle as well as related technologies, including understanding of software release process (environments, binary repositories, CI/CD) is required.
  • Enthusiasm for cloud transformation and cloud platform / components / services development.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure and/or networking is required as well as in-depth knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, security considerations, and expertise in relational databases.
  • Strong development experience and breadth of language and framework experience. (Java, GoLang is a benefit) as well as strong communication skills, both written and spoken; of specific importance the strong communication to a technical audience and attention to details (high standards for quality).
  • Self-sufficient, works under the supervision of a more senior engineer.

  • Experience within Canadian financial institutions is a strong benefit.
  • Experience provisioning and administering Pega infrastructure is a strong benefit.
  • Experience developing and deploying cloud infrastructure is a strong benefit.
  • Expertise in cloud platform features and capabilities is a benefit.
  • Experience in NoSQL databases is a benefit.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (including: Github, Jenkins, Sonarqube, Urbancode Deploy etc) is a benefit.
  • Proven experience in cloud development using Terraform, Microsoft Azure, and OCP is a benefit.
  • Experience with AzureSQL and Azure Kubernetes Service is a strong benefit.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in computer science or engineering/mathematics discipline
