What is the opportunity?

Capital Markets Technology, Equities group is seeking a Senior Software Developer to work on a Trading Solutions team developing, implementing and supporting various tools (pricing, risk analysis, market data, trade workflow and management reporting) for the Global Equities & DSCI Business at RBC

This position will enhance current/ building new tools to improve trading or sales ideas, increase process efficiency, and decrease operational risk.

What will you do?

• Implement processes in python technology instead of excel for robustness/ speed
• Maintain Existing Spreadsheets
• Work with Senior developer to migrate spreadsheets into Server applications and website
• Develop new ideas as proof of concept
• Participate on specifications writing for new Projects
• Help on gathering/communicating local request to Global Trading Solutions team

Front Office

• Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
• Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
• Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager
• and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.

JOB SPECIFICATIONSAND QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications (Legislative Requirement)

• Minimum Bachelors in Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering or related Sciences
• Knowledge of Financial Mathematics
• Knowledge of Derivatives products
• Knowledge of Excel/VBA
• Proficiency in SQL
• Proficiency in Python
• Proficiency in Object Oriented Programming language (C# preferably, Java)
• Knowledge of Javascript and web development is a plus
• Knowledge in networking programming, multi-threaded programming, distributed systems (machine learning a plus)

Other Required Qualifications:

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to work in fast-paced environments delivering quality solutions
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills

Suggested Qualifications:

• Knowledge of C#, Java is a plus
• Knowledge of market data access using Bloomberg or Reuters Excel API is a plus
