SYNOPSIS The Director, Data Engineering is responsible for delivering data engineering competencies, and modernization for end-user consumption for analytics across the organization. He/she will lead data engineering projects and will be required to support current projects. The Director works closely with the security and governance team and communicates frequently with business stakeholders. He/she will act as a senior leader within Data and BI business units.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

• Manage a team of engineers in data for various projects and solutions including production support
• Review and approve production support requests -Upgrade end-user experience by enhancing data engineering systems and practices
• Lead team meetings and sprints to align the scope, resources, timelines, risk assessments, and implementation for various projects
• Consult with multiple teams across the business to identify drivers and key opportunities for success
• Lead cross-functional initiatives in cooperation with various business partners
• Work with project teams to define strategic needs into clear data requirements
• Encourage learning, growth, and continuous improvement within the data team

QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of leadership in relevant implementations (data warehouse, data lake, systems, ETL)
• 8+ years of full-cycle project management experience on relevant projects
• 7+ years of experience with ETL
• 5+ years of experience directing a data team
• Minimum degree in computer science, engineering, math and/or statistics, or other related fields
• Experienced in the insurance, retail, or financial industry is an asset
