What you'll do...

  • Data Source Identification: Leverage your knowledge of business domains, data categories, and database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) to identify and extract high-quality data from the most suitable sources. Perform initial data quality checks and ensure data aligns with business requirements and service level agreements.
  • Technical Problem Formulation: Translate and co-own business problems into data-related or mathematical solutions using analytics, big data, and automation techniques. Identify the appropriate methods and tools to solve business problems, sharing use cases and examples to demonstrate effectiveness.
  • Data Visualization: Utilize advanced visualization tools (Python, R libraries, GGplot, Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau, PowerBI) to generate graphical representations of data. Design data representations for complex datasets, build compelling stories, and present insights to diverse audiences. Guide and mentor junior associates on storytelling techniques and visualization best practices.
  • Data Strategy: Apply your understanding of data ecosystems, data management, governance, and scalability to interpret and implement data strategies. Address unique, moderately complex business problems across multiple functions or domains, unlocking the monetary value of data assets.
  • Data Quality Management: Promote data quality awareness and lead data profiling, cleansing, and validation activities. Continuously measure and monitor data quality, managing issues and ensuring compliance with data governance policies. Educate others on best practices for data quality and governance.
  • Understanding Business Context: Evaluate business cases, translate requirements into strategies and initiatives, and drive their execution. Build and articulate business cases, challenge assumptions, mentor team members, and engage with the external community to enhance Walmart’s brand and industry knowledge.
  • Exploratory Data Analysis: Utilize KDD tools, statistical techniques, and scripting languages (SQL, Oracle, Apache Mahout, MS Excel, Python) to analyze data, identify patterns, and build statistical models. Support research projects, apply appropriate statistical techniques, and conduct thorough data analysis.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00-$180,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 2: Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field. Option 3: 6 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
1 year's supervisory experience.
